Inspiration is the source that allows art to flourish and encourages artists to innovate. It is also the driving force behind the mission of the John & Marine Van Vlissingen Art Foundation, established in 2008, which has supported 15 artists over the years.
The foundation helps young, talented contemporary artists to break through. Each year, one artist is given the opportunity to embark on a journey to find inspiration for new work. This journey, and the resulting artwork, are documented in a book and showcased in an exhibition. This year, the honor was bestowed upon contemporary visual artist Casper Waaijer.
